Course Structure and Overview
In 2025, students in Year 7 will participate in the full year program of Dance which consists of:
- 2 x 70-minute lessons per week within school time as their chosen elective
- 1 x 75-minute performance rehearsal one morning per week
Students will be assessed on their ability to improvise, choreograph and perform style-specific techniques and expressive skills, as well as their ability to analyse and evaluate their own and others choreography and performance, to inform and refine future work. They will develop their technical and expressive skills across the following genres:
- Jazz
- Contemporary
- Lyrical
- Musical Theatre
- Hip-hop
Pathways
Students in Dance Academy will have the opportunity to apply for Dance Academy each year that they attend Robina High School. We provide the following opportunities:
- Dance Curriculum classes by year level
- Dance Academy classes by year level – by audition only
- Dance Academy performance rehearsals which combine years 7, 8 and 9 as Junior Dance Academy; and years 10, 11 and 12 as Senior Dance Academy
- Dance in Practice Applied Course in Years 11 and 12
- Certificate IV in Dance for students aged 15 years and over
