Robina State High School in conjunction with the P&C provides 2 food outlets for students to use.
The Canteen, for Years 7 to 12, is open Monday to Friday from 8.00am to 2.00pm. The Kingfisher Kafe is for Year 10, 11 and 12 students and is open from Monday to Thursday from 7:30am to 2.00pm.
EFTPOS facilities are available for students and the early start makes it possible for students to purchase breakfast at school.
The Canteen Menu operates under the guidance of Queensland Health and Education Queensland and has implemented the Smart Choices Healthy Food and Drink Strategy at the school. The Canteen offers students 2 red food days each term, with the rest of our trading days offering green and amber foods only.
Green foods are an excellent source of nutrients, are low in saturated fat, sugar and salt and are chosen to avoid an intake of excess energy. Some green foods include bread, cereals, rice, pasta, noodles, fruit, lean meat, poultry and eggs. Green foods at the Canteen are generally less expensive than amber foods that have moderate amounts of saturated fat, sugar or salt.
Some examples of amber foods at the canteen include full fat dairy drinks, juices, savoury commercial products, muffins and ice blocks.
All profits from the Canteen and Kafe are donated to the P&C and are used to finance various school projects.
Students are encouraged to discuss their dietary requirements with staff and special orders such as gluten free options are catered for, as requested in addition to what is already on the menu.
Students are also encouraged to pre-order their morning tea and lunch before 9am. This can ensure students don’t miss out on what they prefer, they get to skip the line-up and pick up from the side door.
Both outlets are operated by great ladies who would welcome any assistance that can be offered from our parent/carers in the community. If you would like to volunteer any time at all, please complete and submit this Canteen Volunteering Form.
