Vision
Our goal is to create an inclusive and high-energy environment where students are inspired to lead active, healthy lifestyles and build lifelong confidence through sport. At the heart of our Touch Football, OzTag, and NFL Flag Sports Academy is a commitment to nurturing passionate athletes who are striving for personal growth, teamwork, and success.
Our multi-sport program focuses on three of the fastest-growing and most popular football codes in Australia, offering students the best possible opportunities to develop their skills, compete confidently, and progress through local, regional, and national pathways. Whether playing socially or at an elite level, our athletes are supported to reach their goals and represent Robina State High School with pride.
The Academy emphasises skill development, game awareness, physical conditioning, and mental resilience across all three sports. We aim to produce confident, well-rounded athletes with a strong understanding of gameplay, strategy, and sportsmanship in line state and national competitions, including Touch Football, OzTag, and NFL Flag.
By providing diverse and flexible sporting opportunities, our vision is to help students succeed on and off the field, setting them up for future success in sport, study, and life.
Coaching
Our Academy is led by two experienced and passionate coaches, each with over 10 years of involvement in Touch Football, OzTag, Rugby League, and school-based sport. Their commitment to student development and love for the game ensures a positive and supportive environment for all athletes.
Both coaches maintain strong connections with Queensland Touch, Offside Tag, and local rugby league clubs. These partnerships allow us to bring in guest coaches, access quality resources, and deliver specialist training sessions that enhance student learning and performance.
With their experience and community ties, our coaching team provides students with the best opportunity to grow, compete, and succeed across all levels of the game.
Lesson Design
Students in the Touch Football, OzTag, and NFL Flag Academy participate in four structured sessions each week, carefully designed to support their development across all areas of performance. Our weekly program includes one theory session and three practical sessions, each targeting a key area of athletic growth.
- Theory Session: Focuses on game strategies, positional play, competition preparation, nutrition, injury management and prevention, and sports psychology—ensuring students develop both their knowledge and mindset as athletes.
- Strength & Conditioning Session: Gym-based training to improve strength, mobility, and injury resilience, tailored to the physical demands of each sport.
- Fitness Session: Designed to build cardiovascular endurance and agility through high-intensity drills and running-based activities.
- Game-Based Practical Session: A dynamic session focused on skill execution, game play scenarios, plyometric training, and team-based drills aligned with upcoming competitions.
Competition
Students in the Touch Football, OzTag, and NFL Flag Academy have the opportunity to compete in up to 10 competitions each year. These range from local school-based and social competitions to major state-level events held in Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast, and other regional hubs. Some of our top-performing teams may even be invited to compete internationally, providing students with exciting and rewarding experiences beyond the classroom.
We also encourage participation in local social competitions to build confidence, develop game sense, and simply enjoy the sport in a fun, low-pressure environment. Whether competing for titles or playing for enjoyment, our students gain valuable experience and lifelong memories through every event.
Application Process
Students who are interested in applying for the Touch / Tag / Flag Academy must be motivated and hardworking, love the game, and be willing to improve themselves. We prefer students are affiliated with a club outside of school. Playing at a representative level is also an advantage.
