A School Social Worker focuses on the student in the school environment and will work holistically with the whole family to minimise the impacts of personal, familial and school difficulties and, where possible, remove the barriers to learning.
- Connect and co-ordinate school and community resources
- Provide social and emotional strengths-based skill building
- Provide a safe, comfortable and private space
- Support students and families to manage the demands and challenges of education
- Develop and implement programs and assist with making individual learning plans
- Advocate for positive change to reduce social and educational barriers
