Golf Academy: A ‘Holistic’ Approach to Athletic Development
The Robina Golf Academy is one of the strongest programs of its kind in Australia. With a large number of alumni who have gone on to play on a variety of tours around the world, and a high-performance platform that gives our current students every opportunity to succeed, the Golf Academy at Robina State High School is a program of which we are very proud.
The Golf Academy has continued to evolve and enhance our coaching and strategic approach to the game. Under the guidance of the elite coaching staff at KDV Sport, the Gold Coast's premier golfing facility, our players have the opportunity to take their game to the highest level.
Robina State High School has a purpose-built golf practice facility featuring a pitching green, greenside and fairway bunkers and three target greens on a 300m driving range. We also have an indoor putting facility with instant video and data feedback. All golf equipment is tour quality Titleist, including clubs and Pro VI balls used as range balls. Students play in a variety of tournaments representing Robina State High School across Queensland and around Australia.

The coaching staff at KDV who work with our students daily, also coach players on a variety of tours around the world and are on the High-Performance Coaching Panel of Golf Queensland and Golf Australia.
The Gold Coast is renowned for its high-quality golf courses. Students in the Academy play at leading Gold Coast Resort Courses such as: The Glades, Lakelands, Robina Woods, Colonial, Sanctuary Cove, Burleigh, Surfers Paradise and RACV Royal Pines during the year.
Students of Robina's State High School's Golf Academy receive:
- 4+ hours of professional coaching each week plus additional time on our school driving range and at KDV Sports 20 rounds of golf each year on the resort style courses famous to the Gold Coast
- Classroom work each term covering a variety of education units

Robina's Golf Academy is open to all students interested in developing their game. Whether you are an intermediate player seeking the skills that will improve your golf or an advanced player aiming to fine-tune your performances, we have the program for you. Our advanced and elite programs are suited to students looking at elite development resulting in squad selection, playing careers and competing at a state, national and international level.
Our physical training sessions are designed in accordance with Golf Australia's golf-specific procedures to ensure our students are offered the best preparation for their golf careers. As such, Golf Australia recognise Robina State High School as the national leading school for Long Term Athletic Development with junior golfers.
Alumni
Amy Yang attended Robina State High School from 2005-2007.
As a year 11 student she won the Ladies European Tour (LET) event the ANZ
Ladies Masters and has since gone on to win three LET tournaments and an
amazing two Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) events. She won the 2024 US LPGA Championship, has
finished runner-up in the Ladies US Open twice and represented her home
country of South Korea at the 2016 and 2024 Olympic Games finishing 4th in both events.
Haeji Kang (LPGA Tour), Simon Viitakangas (Australiasian
Tour), Courtney Massey (Australiasian Tour), Saki Suzuki (Japanese Ladies Tour)
and Amy Walsh (Ladies European Tour) have all utilised their experiences with
the Robina Golf Academy to go on and play in major Golf Tours globally.
Application Process
Entry into the Golf Academy Program is a competitive and selective process. Students applying for a position must complete an application form, including suppling the following documentation and attend a trail:
Mandatory Documentation
School Reports - Provide the applicant's the last two semester academic reports.
Sporting Achievements - Provide a copy of the applicant's involvement and achievements in sporting activities including years played, representative teams, personal and/or team successes. eg: Player Resume including team(s) played for, individual achievements, playing history and representative honours, any relevant video footage.
Optional Documentation
School Achievements - Provide a copy of the applicant's involvement and achievements in other various school activities including leadership roles, sporting achievements, co-curricular and extra-activities.
Personal Statement - Provide the applicant's own statement briefly explaining why they would like to enrol in this program.
Community Involvement - Provide a
copy of the applicant's involvement in community activities, initiatives, clubs and societies. eg: Certificates of participation and / or Confirmation/ reference lettersClick here to apply for the Golf Academy
Scholarships
The school will grant some scholarships for Year Six students upon entry into the Sports Academy Programs. Scholarships are by written application and winners will be presented with their scholarship at their own school graduation. The scholarship is for the year of entry only and may be a part or full scholarship to contribute to the Student Resource Scheme.
