Student Pathways Program

Modern education recognises that students take many different pathways in order to achieve future success. Robina SHS’s flexible and validated pathways programs assist students to effectively develop their skills and transition to further study, work, or training at a time most appropriate to them.

The Student Pathways department encompasses both academic and vocational strands. Our brief includes providing courses and opportunities for students whilst they are still at school, as well as establishing a viable educational platform from which young people can launch their careers.

To ensure depth and currency, we deal directly with tertiary institutions, the business and industry community, government bodies, not-for-profit organisations and other training agencies to source opportunities for the full range of our students. These opportunities may typically involve a Year 12 student attending a semester of university whilst at school; a student undertaking a School- based Apprenticeship or Traineeship therefore earning credits and wages whilst studying; students participating in the Community Mentoring and Work Readiness programs, or trying out various industries through Work Experience.

In conjunction with this, Student Pathways develops and delivers the school Care programme, PROMOTE, to all students. This incorporates our core values, the House system, House Leaders and works in tandem with Year Leaders and the student leadership team.

Our brief covers areas such as:

  • School-based Apprenticeships and Traineeships-SATs involve a student beginning their paid working lives whilst at school. They attend paid work and training in a nationally recognised qualification whilst studying in a flexible school timetable.
  • Work Experience - students choose when and where they wish to undertake Work Experience across the Gold Coast. This program is entirely voluntary.
  • Queensland Core Skills preparation and administration
  • GUESTS - Griffith University Early Start to Tertiary Studies
  • Bond University Student for a Semester
  • Distance Education
  • Queensland TAFE School’s Cooperative Programme
  • School to Work Transition programmes
  • Community Mentoring in conjunction with SCISCO Careers Pathways
  • Tertiary Scholarship application assistance
  • House Cup, House Leadership and associated activities
  • Whole school PROMOTE programme
