In March 2003 Robina SHS created history by becoming the first school to win both the open girls and open boys State Titles. Robina SHS is still the only school to hold this record. This tournament has up to 700 teams entered from both state and private schools.
Representative Honours
From 1999 to 2007 Robina SHS has had 31 students selected for Australia and 82 for Queensland. Some of these students have been selected for a number of years. The students selected for Australia have travelled with their squads to Brazil, England, Greece, Canada and Chile. Students competing for Queensland have done so at the National titles at various venues throughout the country.
During 2003 Dean Garden spent six months attending Santo Antonio College in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Dean was the first student from Robina SHS to be part of this international exchange program.
Graduates
Past students have continued their involvement with the sport. John Costello, 2001 graduate, has been an assistant coach with Queensland teams. Chris Evans, 2003 graduate, has refereed at the National Titles. Robert Crook, 2007 graduate, continues to be involved with the Excellence Program by coaching some of our school teams. While many others play at clubs including ours on Sunday nights.
