UPCOMING NAPLAN TESTING

Dear Parents & Caregivers

The following outlines important information regarding the NAPLAN (National Assessment program Literacy and Numeracy) testing that all Year 9 students will soon be completing. These tests will be held throughout the nation on 15, 16 and 17 May 2012. School results will guide our future teaching practices. Individual student results will be used to support, develop and extend student learning in Years 10, 11 and 12.

Wherever possible, to ensure a familiar environment, testing will occur in the student’s usual English and Mathematics classrooms and be conducted by their usual English and Mathematics teachers. Students will attend PROMOTE roll marking on these mornings at Undercover Area 2 before moving to the designated classrooms.

You can assist your child to perform their very best by ensuring they have a good night's sleep and eat breakfast prior to testing, and that they bring the necessary equipment comprising:

  • 2 x 2B or HB pencils
  • Pencil sharpener
  • Eraser
  • 2 x blue or black ballpoint pens
  • Calculator
You are encouraged to look at the NAPLAN website (www.naplan.edu.au) which contains information on all aspects of the national tests.  All students are expected to complete the testing, however, in certain circumstances, parents may request a withdrawal from the NAPLAN tests by signing the withdrawal form  and having their student return it to the student counter.  Special provisions may also be possible to assist students with disabilities.  For further information on this and other school-specific queries please contact Mrs Megan Tyne on 5562 3444.

I look foward to sharing the results of your Year 9 NAPLAN testing when we receive them later in the year.

Deputy Principal
